TERRELL CO., GA (WALB) -

It's that time of year.

Some parents may be excited for school to start back, but a lot of communities are working to make sure the kids are excited too.

Terrell County citizens got together to form a community day to celebrate the start of the new school year.

It happened Saturday afternoon at the old Terrell County Football Field.

Kids of all ages got to have fun, while their parents found out information they need before school starts back.

Lakia Spencer with the Terrell County School System said togetherness like this speaks volumes.

"I just hope the community will see it and want to be a part of it and buy in because we want to show unity here in Terrell County," said Spencer.

Spencer said this is the first time the community has come together to make sure families are ready to send their kids back to school.
