ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

The nephew of the two brothers at the center of the most famous prison break from the rock, Alcatraz, has now written and published his book giving the inside facts.

David Widner has worked for 5 years with Alcatraz Historian Michael Esslinger, writing "Escaping Alcatraz."

On June 11, 1962, brothers John and Clarence Anglin along with inmate Frank Morris disappeared from Alcatraz, America's most maximum security prison on an island in the middle of San Francisco's bay.

To this day, there is still debate whether the brothers made a successful escape, or died trying.  Their nephew's book gives the facts and the untold story.

Widner said "This is a book that you can read and make your own mind up, as to what happened.  What you really believe.  Whether they made it or not."

Widner's new book has just been released on Amazon, and will soon be available in book stores. Widner hopes to hold book signings in South Georgia soon.
