LEE CO., GA (WALB) - Some South Georgia kids are now kayak experts.
For the past seven weeks, they have been kayaking with the 'Grand Commander Kayak Camp.'
The camp was organized by Marla Edmonds.
It's named in honor of Michael Commander who was a former DNR Captain.
One of Commander's family members kayaked with the kids on Friday.
For three days a week, Edmonds has been teaching the kids about kayaking.
They've paddled the Kinchafoonee Creek, fished and even taken lessons from DNR Rangers.
"It's such a great thing for families to do and we want to make sure these kids are prepared for the waters," said Edmonds.
Edmonds said the camp was a big success.
Friday was the last day of camp.
Edmonds hopes to have the camp again next year with more kids.
