ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Thronateeska Heritage staff wants residents to know about their upcoming events.

The center is hosting two events this week.

In participation with PBS and Tangled Bank Studios, they're giving residents a sneak peek of The Farthest Film.  It's a new PBS documentary about NASA's esteemed Voyager mission, which celebrated its 40th launch anniversary this summer.

The staff is also having a lecture series on the importance of family genealogy.

Staff said a lot of times the stories that are passed down don't get recorded.

"They stop with a certain generation and you don't hear about them anymore. But when you're just sitting around talking to your family you learn a lot. And it's really important to record that so that future generations have that also," said Program Manager Hannah Hembree.

Thronateeska staff will be showing The Farthest Film screening Tuesday at 6 p.m.

The family genealogy lecture series will take place on Thursday at 6 p.m.

Both events are free.
