(RNN) - Tropical Storm Don has formed east of the Windward Island, with watches and warnings issued for portions of that region, the National Hurricane Center reports.

At 2 a.m. ET Monday, the NHS reported the storm was located about 300 miles east-southeast of Barbados and about 430 miles east of Grenada, with maximum sustained winds of 45 mph and a present movement of 18 mph.

The government of the Netherlands has issued a Tropical Storm Watch for Bonaire.

Barbados and St. Lucia are also under Tropical Storm Watches while Grenada and St. Vincent and the Grenadines are under Tropical Storm Warnings.

A Tropical Storm Warning means that tropical storm conditions are expected within the warning area, in this case in the next 24 hours.

Conditions are expected in the warning area by late afternoon Tuesday, to continue through the night night. Don is expected to produce total rain accumulations of 2 to 4 inches across the Windward Islands through Wednesday morning, the NHS reports.

On June 21, Tropical Storm Cindy was the last to make landfall in the US, with winds claiming the life of a 10-year-old boy in Fort Morgan, AL, when a large log slammed from the surf of the gulf onto his head.

Waves generated by Cindy prompted a distress call from a sinking shrimp trawler about 80 miles off the coast of Galveston, and  a waterspout came ashore in Biloxi, MS. The area experienced flooding and about 300 road closures,WLOX reported. Tornado warnings were also issued for Hancock County, MS.
