Injured victim in fatal Americus shooting charged

AMERICUS, GA (WALB) -

The suspect in a fatal shooting turned himself in Monday morning and the surviving victim is facing charges.

Kentavous Cortez Wilkerson, 22, turned himself in around 10 a.m. 

Cortez has been charged with felony murder, two counts of aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

Rodney Greene, 23, was injured in the shooting.

Rodney was treated and released from the hospital and has been charged with reckless conduct and giving false statements to police.

Police responded to a shooting in the 500 block of Bell Street just before 6 p.m. Saturday.

When they arrived, Bradley Jamal Green, 24, and Rodney were transported to the Phoebe Sumter Medical Center.

Bradley was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The GBI assisted with the investigation and Wilkerson was booked into Sumter County Jail.

Police said more charges could be possible pending further investigation.
