LEE CO., GA (WALB) -

Sunday's severe weather knocked out power in southern Lee County.

Power was out at the Walmart on Ledo Road. The store lost power around 2:15 p.m.

The store's manager tells WALB News 10 the generator was struck by lightning at that time causing electricity to go out.

Walmart's power was restored around 5:15 p.m.

Walmart employees manually closed the electric doors to keep people from coming inside.

According to Georgia Power, about 1,000 customers around Highway 82 just north of Ledo Road lost power.

Georgia Power's outage map shows power was restored around 3:30 p.m.

The storms also caused major flooding in the 1200 block of North Westover in Albany near Sam's Club.

Drivers are urged to avoid the area.
