LEE CO., GA (WALB) -

It's not every day can you get a free car wash and still help one team raise money.

Saturday, the southwest Georgia Punishers 8-year-old and under team hosted a free car wash.

From 8 till noon, kids, their parents, and coaches scrubbed cars at the Speed Shop on Ledo Road hoping to meet their goal of $2000.

Since the wash was free, the team relied on pledges from family members and donors to help get to their goal.

For head coach Ben Goff, he liked seeing the kids working toward their goal.

"Well it means the kids are out here. They're working hard. They're earning their money. It's a good life lesson because it teaches them, nothing's free," said coach Ben Goff.

The Punishers are based out of Lee County.

And Goff says the funds raised will cover tournament fees and other team expenses.

Their first game is August 26th.
