The Albany-Dougherty Drug Unit is starting to receive lots of tips from its new 'Turn in Your Competition' initiative.

On Thursday evening, we told you about ADDU's campaign where drug agents are giving drug dealers an opportunity to report other drug dealers selling illegal narcotics in their neighborhoods.

Agents said after the story aired, they've received dozens of tips.

The ADDU Commander wants to stress to the public that those who call in with information will remain anonymous.

"One thing we want people to really, really understand is that when they call us we do not give out their information. When we say you're anonymous, you are anonymous. If you want us to know your name, you can tell us your name but we won't publicize that information at all," said ADDU Commander Major Prurince Dice.

Dice said the community plays a vital role in helping the department get drugs off the streets.

ADDU plans to continue the 'Turn in Your Competition' initiative for the remainder of the summer.

Those who want to report their competition can do so anonymously.

You can call the Albany-Dougherty Drug Unit at 229-430-5150.
