COOK CO., GA (WALB) -

Crews in Cook County worked to extinguish a steeple fire at the Springhead Baptist Church Thursday night.

According to fire officials, someone called around 6 p.m. to report the steeple had been struck by lightning and caught fire.

No one was injured.

Firefighters said that the steeple was ruined and there was some damage to the upper part of the roof, but it wasn't extensive. They also said the fire did not extend to the rest of the building.
