Homeowner holds Valdosta teen for police after burglary

VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - Tuesday afternoon, Valdosta Police Officers responded to the 2500 Block of Muscogee Drive, where they found a homeowner holding a teenager who he said he caught running from his house.

Antoine Manigan, 18, was detained by police while they investigated.

The homeowner said his dog started barking, so he began to look around his home, and saw Manigan climbing out of his bedroom window, trying to run away.

The homeowner told VPD that he physically restrained the teen until Valdosta Police could arrive.

Officers found Physical evidence of the crime, and took Manigan into custody.

Manigan was transported to the Lowndes County Jail where he will now face two felony charges of: burglary, and possession of tools for the commission of a crime, and a misdemeanor count of criminal trespass, damage to property.

"The Valdosta Police Department commends the homeowner in this case for his assistance. The homeowner not only reported the incident to 911 immediately, he assisted the responding units with the arrest," said VPD Lieutenant Adam Bembry.
