ALBANY, GA (WALB) - A group of young South Georgia girls showed off their STEM skills on Monday afternoon.
Girls Inc of Albany held their First Annual STEM Showcase at Thronateeska Heritage Center.
More than 80 community members came out to see some of the experiments ranging from a marble run and walking robots.
The girls enrolled in the six-week "Highly Esteamed" Summer Camp engaged in science, technology, engineering and mathematics activities.
And from the experience, Executive Director Wilena McClain now many of them have a greater appreciation for STEM research.
"They learned that they're doing math everyday so we have classes that we've actually incorporated in our summer camp to show them just how math is a part of your everyday life. And also encouraging them to explore STEM careers," said McClain.
Girls of Inc of Albany teen girls also explored careers in STEM.
