Are you prepared for a storm?

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

You don't know when a storm will happen, but you should always be prepared.

A storm preparedness kit is essential to keep at home during severe weather. 

Power can go out for long periods, causing the lights, refrigerator, and air conditioning to stop working. 

Assistant Manager at Lowe's Home Improvement, Craig Bludworth recommends paying attention to weather announcements in advance. 

If severe storms are in your area you should always have a kit including flashlights, batteries, and a weather radio.

"You'll never be able to be fully ready for a storm. But you can handle some of the smaller things that come up that help keep you safe," said Bludworth.

Depending on your type of home, there are greater risks during storms. 

Bludworth says those in mobile homes need to get to a safe area to not be affected by damaging winds.
