ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

An Albany church pastor will celebrate his birthday with an opportunity to clean up in the community.

NewBirth Fellowship Church will partner with Keep Albany-Dougherty Beautiful Monday.

Pastor Leon Gardner said he doesn't want gifts for his 61st birthday, but instead wants to give back.

The church's Next Generation Leadership Program that focuses on teenagers is heading the project up.

Marcus Scott said it's a good chance to show teens why it's important to be involved.

"To help the youth understand, the leaders, that they can't just live in Albany," said Scott. "They have to be a part of Albany, have a vested interest in Albany in order to be effective leaders here."

If you want to help out, just meet at 2106 Radium Springs Road in Albany (New Birth Fellowship) between 8 a.m. and 8:15 a.m. on Monday, July 10.

The cleanup will last until around 12:30 p.m. that day.
