ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

The City of Albany is in for a treat this weekend as the Battle of the south will provide 32 basketball games in 2 days.

Team Duval out of Jacksonville has won the tournament 3 out of the last 5 years.

They had their final practice Friday afternoon.

This is the 21st rendition of the annual basketball tournament that has grown from just nine teams to 20.

Some of those teams boast former professionals from the NBA and international leagues.

Games start tomorrow morning at 9 at the Albany State University Gillionville campus gym.

The championship game for the double elimination tournament is scheduled to be played Sunday evening.

Director Fred Pickett is just happy to provide free entertainment for the good life city.

"Complication was getting it put together because it takes a lot of money to put it together and make it free to the community," said Pickett. "And we've been doing it free to the community for 21 years and the Lord has blessed us to actually be able to do it and let the community in free."
