VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

Units of the Valdosta Police Department are gathered in the 800 block of West Mary Street, to check out a shooting incident.

VPD Lieutenant Adam Bembry confirmed that someone was shot in the upper arm/shoulder area, and their condition is listed as stable at this time.

The victim was treated on scene and taken to the hospital by EMS.

According to VPD, it was reported that the victim was involved in an argument with someone else outside of an apartment. The argument continued inside of an apartment where the victim was shot.

VPD said it was then reported that the shooter left the scene.

A VSU spokesman also confirmed the incident which is near, but not on, that campus.

Police are on the lookout for the shooter, said to be an African-American man in his early 20s.

They believe this was an isolated shooting incident.

Officials said it's best to stay out of that area for the time being.

“If anyone has information regarding the incident, they are asked to contact the Valdosta Police Department,” said Lieutenant Bembry.
