ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Future nursing students had a chance to learn about job openings at Phoebe Putney Hospital on Thursday night.
Albany Technical College and Phoebe held it's second CNA employment opportunity event.
The information session allowed candidates to learn about the program and begin the application and financial aid process.
ATC staff said they hope to encourage students to enroll in Albany Tech's CNA program, and ultimately be offered a job at Phoebe.
They believe it's another solution to the nurse and physician shortage.
"If they train here and they see that there's a need because there is a big shortage here and they see the need and be treated with respect and that they will love their jobs and want to serve this area," said ATC Nurses Aid Coordinator Katrenia Shivers.
Albany Tech staff explained they're targeting Southwest Georgia students in hopes they sign a contract to practice in the community.
Fourteen ATC students walked away with jobs at the last CNA employment session in May.
