ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Georgia Power has been working to expand where customers can go and make payments to places like Walmart, Publix, Walgreens and more. With the expansion, the company is now working to close all of its business offices in the state this year, including the office on North Westover Boulevard in Albany.

The Albany office will officially close in October.

Georgia Power worked to nearly double its payment locations from 2,700 to 5,300 last year and began closing all but 27 business offices.

Now all of those 27 offices will be closed by the end of the year.

This is a statement released by Georgia Power about the closing of business offices and expansion of payment locations:

Georgia Power is continuing to evolve our business in response to our customers' changing needs, while ensuring world-class service at the lowest possible prices. As part of our efforts to modernize our business and adapt to our customers’ evolving needs, Georgia Power will close its remaining 27 business offices by the end of the year. Customers can now pay at thousands of new in-person Authorized Payment Locations across the state – including nearly 50 different locations within 5 miles of our Georgia Power 704 N. Westover Blvd. office. New local payment options for our customers include Walmart, Publix, Walgreens, Ingles, Piggly Wiggly, Rite Aid, Dollar General, and Family Dollar.

For anyone looking to find a payment location near you, visit the Georgia Power website.
