EDISON, GA (WALB) - The first community-wide fireworks show in Edison was a big success.
That was according to Edison Police Chief Walt Ingram. He suspected less crime happened because of it.
Ingram said the event was packed with people
It was put on by some of the local businesses in town.
Ingram said it not only brought the community together, but it also cut down on police calls on Independence Day.
"We usually get a few calls about illegal fireworks getting shot without permits," Ingram said. "This year we didn't have any of that."
Ingram said everyone in the small community seemed to enjoy the event.
He hopes the community will sponsor the fireworks again next year.
