VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - Preparation went well for the fireworks show put on by Valdosta Park and Recreation.
Set up began Tuesday morning for the annual firework show.
Organizers said the show was set to be bigger and better than last year.
VPR said they will be setting off 1,900 shells, better known as explosives. Last year's shell count was 1,700.
Each show consists of three phases with the preview, the body, and the finale.
Show technicians said each phase is shot off individually except for the finale, where all of the explosives were wired together.
"It's just like an adrenaline rush every time. From the moment we hit the first cue until the finale is done shooting. I mean, I've done hand-fire shows, I've done electronic shows, it's just, I love it," said lead technician Aaron Highsmith.
On Tuesday night, the show will start around 9:15 p.m. in the mall area between exits 15 and 18.
VPR asks that folks watch from the Valdosta Mall side of the interstate.
