Lake Blackshear celebrates the Fourth of July

CORDELE, GA (WALB) - Families enjoyed the hottest day this year, the Fourth of July, by cooling off in none other than the Lake Blackshear.

Skylar Singletary is a high schooler who says he is all about being on the water.

His family and him drove from Tifton to spend the entire day at the lake.

"The best part of my day is riding the boat, coming up here with family and eating," Singletary said.

Rantz Murphy and his three year-old-daughter Emory played at the beach to celebrate their holiday.

They traveled from Ellaville to enjoy the beach today.

"God has given us a great day. And we're just out here enjoying the facilities and just having a great time. Just in the sun, in the fun and looking forward to some fireworks this evening," Murphy said.

Fireworks start at 9:30. No one is allowed to bring their own fireworks. Alcohol is also prohibited.
