ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Sales are increasing at Jake's Fireworks in Albany where lots of customers are buying last minute fireworks.
Staff said some folks started stocking up on fireworks as early as Memorial Day weekend when the store opened for the season.
But the weekend leading up to the holiday is the busiest.
As many as 5,000 to 6,000 people bought fireworks over the weekend, and the average person has spent at least $100.
Staff said customers really enjoy the TV scanners that shows each firework display.
"A lot of people really love that because a lot of places you know you're going in blind basically, you don't know what you're getting but here we allow people to get a visual and see if they like it or not," said Jake's Fireworks Store Operator Danielle Davis.
Some of the most popular fireworks include the snappers that kids like to throw on the ground, sparklers and firecrackers but also the 500 gram cakes that do the big explosions.
