ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Eastside Pet Salon and The Dog Park owner Donna L'Esperance can breathe a sigh of relief.
After damages to her grooming business and dog park in January, she's made all the fixes she needs.
"This area here was covered in trees," L'Esperance recalled.
Donna L'Esperance owns Eastside Pet Salon on Gillionville Road.
Since May 2015, she's operated The Dog Park right outside her salon.
But this past January the Albany native saw the worst storm she'd seen at the time.
"The trees fell from the other side of the fence over there to the building...on the building, on the patio...this was nothing but trees. All the trees fell within this direction."
The Dog Park needed a new awning, patio, and fence.
"As of 2 to 3 weeks ago we are 100 percent repaired," said L'Esperance.
L'Esperance credits her progress to her three employees coming in on off days, and the whole Albany community helping with finances and maintenance repairs.
"With...the storm, the devastation...it was just a long road. At points, you don't think you're going to get there, but it's nice to know that we have," said L'Esperance.
She says those affected by the storm still have construction delays and contractors are overwhelmed.
"It just didn't seem like it was ever going to all come together," said L'Esperance.
But she's glad her business is finally getting back to normal.
"We've come out on top. We're moving forward. It's a good feeling that we are strong enough," said L'Esperance.
Since the storm, L'Esperance is running a special July and August special at The Dog Park.
L'Esperance is celebrating completing repairs by allowing $5 per dog per day to play at the park.
Rabies, Parvo, and Distemper shot records are required.
