ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

It was a good time for a good cause out at Chehaw Friday.

Dozens participated and many more watched the Wakefest tournament.

Each year, organizers choose a local family who has a child with special or medical needs.

All the proceeds go to that family.

This year, organizers chose Ellison Olinger, 3, from Leesburg.

According to the WakeFest Facebook page, her family will use the money to help pay for doctor bills, along with speech, physical, and occupational therapies.

"Our first year started out at $1,800 dollars and our last year we did was 21,000. We're doing our absolute best to beat that this year," said Adam Gilbert, Wakefest President.

50 riders participated in the tournament.

It was Wakefest's 9th year in Albany.
