ASHBURN, GA (WALB) - The open seat on Ashburn's City Council has been filled.
Citizens elected Andrea Pierce to the City Council June 20.
She was officially sworn in Thursday morning.
Pierce is a disabled veteran and said she's involved in a lot of volunteer work for her community.
She said she decided to run for City Council because she wanted to help other residents, including better education and more beneficial activities for kids in Ashburn.
"I had people who looked out for me to make sure I became someone, and I think if the kids in our community had a little more guidance, it would help," said Pierce.
Pierce said she is in this 100% and will do whatever she can to help her city.
