We're one month into what forecasters are predicting to be an active hurricane season.
Emergency officials held a hurricane information meeting Thursday night at the Rain Water Conference Center.
Officials shared contacts, show the official hurricane forecast and answered questions from the public.
They also shared tips on being prepared when it comes to their animals.
"We're going to have people there to talk to you about how to prepare for your pets. You know we might think about what we need as people to evacuate but if you've got a pet that you're evacuating with," said Paige Dukes, Lowndes County Public Information Officer.
Officials also programmed weather radios and help to get evacuation plans in place in the event of a tropical storm.
