VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

Valdosta begins preparations to light up the night's sky for the 4th of July.

Valdosta Lowndes County Park and Recreation began clearing the field that will host the firework show.

It's set to take place near the Valdosta Mall next Tuesday.

The city spent roughly 25 to 26-thousand dollars on fireworks.

Program Coordinator Rachel Salyards said the event attracts a big crowd. "Bring the whole family out. Make sure you bring some drinks, maybe some snacks, because it's going to be a good show and then be patient afterwards, cause obviously everyone's coming out to watch the fireworks, so everyone is going to leave around the same time."

The show is set to start around 9 p.m.
