ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

The Albany Police Department is investigating, after a man was shot in the leg Tuesday night just before 11:30, in the 1600 block of McArthur Street.

A police report issued Wednesday morning indicates that his lower leg was nearly severed by the shot. The report identified the man as 21 year old Cervantez DaVinci Smith, who police found lying on the ground, screaming in pain. We are asking about his condition.

The Albany Police report indicates that bullets were fired from multiple locations, and that numerous vehicles were struck by bullets, as well as at least two houses in the area.

One witness reported seeing two people on foot, in masks, and carrying guns, one a pistol, and the other a long gun, but could not identify them.

Another witness said he thought he saw a white Cadillac speed by, and heard several cars with their engines revving.

Smith was in good condition Wednesday afternoon at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.

This is a developing story and WALB will update the information as details come in.
