Students paint home for Albany family

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Students have traveled from Nashville to Albany this week to volunteer.

This "Keep Albany/Dougherty Beautiful" project is part of the "Fight Albany Blight Initiative."

About 30 middle school and high school students from Harpeth Hills Church of Christ have traveled more than 6 hours to give back.

They painted a home in northeastern Albany for a family in need.

Sudie Roney owns the home and has lived there since 1969. Because of her health, she cannot renovate her home.

Students will be working from June 26-June 30.

"The best part of this trip has been others. But also while we're helping others we've created some amazing bonds with our mission team and also with the people we surround ourselves with and help out with," rising freshmen volunteer Abby Jordan said.

Jordan and other volunteers say they want the family to enjoy their new home.
