ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Albany Fire investigators are looking for the person who started a fire in a South Albany home Sunday morning.

You can still hear the faint sound of a fire alarm still rings through American Lane.

On Monday morning, neighbors expressed concern.

"I hope the family is doing fine and okay," said Janeika Adams.

Officials were called to the home just before 5 Sunday morning.

What started as a fire in the back of the house, spread to the front door and garage.

"It looks to me that they put it out fast," said Adams.

Many neighbors said they didn't see the damage until they were leaving for church in the morning.

Adams lives just a few houses down the road.

"We didn't hear any firetrucks or anything. We just kind of saw them," said Adams.

Albany Fire Investigators say the fire was no accident.

The homeowner told them she heard a noise on her back porch. When she looked outside, she saw her couch in flames. She told police she saw someone run from the back of her house.

Adams said she was shocked to even hear of a fire just feet away from her home. Knowing it was intentionally set, she said, has her and many others on edge.

"It concerns me it does because I live in this community. It makes me think what if it could happen to me," explained Adams.
