ALBANY, GA (WALB) - On Friday expectant mothers in Albany learned more about breastfeeding, baby nutrition and infant health.
United Way of Southwest Georgia hosted a mother-to-be education and empowerment workshop at Albany State University's West Campus today.
More than 60 women, recommended by their OBGYNs, learned how to be good mothers. LaKisha Bryant Bruce said this event helps women take control of their reproductive and new child's health.
"And by improving the lives of the moms and improving the lives of the babies we're improving the lives of the residents here in Southwest Georgia," Bruce, United Way of Southwest Georgia CEO and President, said.
Bruce says this event improves the overall health in Dougherty County.
