AMERICUS, GA (WALB) -

New businesses continue opening in downtown Americus, and now the Americus Downtown Development Authority is looking for another one to move in.

This year, the DDA sold the Stein Building on Cotton Avenue to another developer.

With the funds from that transaction, the DDA bought the old gas station and auto shop building on the corner of Cotton Avenue and East Forsyth Street.

DDA Director Patrick Kay said he is searching for someone with a business plan who would like to open up shop in that location.

Kay said Friday that the Americus DDA will help finance the project with a lease agreement.

"What we'd like to see is possibly an indoor-outdoor restaurant," said Kay. "It could be an indoor-outdoor retail space, some type of possible beer garden area out here. We're just looking for different opportunities out there."

Kay said there is not a timeline set for when they want a business be up and running.

If you're interested, contact Kay at his office at (229) 924-4411 ext. 235.
