CORDELE, GA (WALB) -

WALB News 10 would like to thank all the people who came out to visit us Thursday in Cordele.

Despite temperatures that felt like they were over 100 degrees, dozens of people came out to the Crisp County Courthouse to meet us on our going mobile community tour.

With the annual Watermelon Festival's big weekend coming up, we wanted to be a part of fun at the watermelon capital of the world.
Thousands of people are expected at Crisp Regional Park, for the numerous festival events, with  something for everybody.

Cordele Crisp Chamber of Commerce President Monica Simmons said "The horseshoe tournament, the seed spit, eating contests.  I mean it's amazing what brings people out. The arts and crafts, all those food vendors.  So we're looking for a big crowd."

The Cordele Watermelon Parade starts Saturday at 8:30, kicking off the big Saturday of the Watermelon Festival.  We really enjoyed getting to meet all the nice folks at out going mobile community tour visit today in Cordele.
