DOUGHERTY CO., GA (WALB) -

Dougherty County Police are in the process of trying to connect the dots in a brutal rural home invasion, hoping more tips will come in, so they can solve an open case.

Police say they're still searching for possibly five suspects involved in a home invasion on Gravel Hill Road last week. The suspects broke into Francis Wetherbee's home, stole his truck, then shot him in the back.

Police found the stolen truck at the Shadowood Apartments on Brierwood Drive.

Captain Tom Jackson of the Dougherty County Police Department says they're still hoping for more tips.

"Well, the biggest thing that we've noticed is that a reward has been offered in this case, but it hasn't generated any tips that have been beneficial to us, so we still solicit the public to help us solve this crime, and get these people off the street. You could be the next victim if we don't get these people off."

There is a $70,000 reward being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the men responsible.

You can call Crime Stoppers at 436-TIPS, and remain anonymous.
