WORTH CO., GA (WALB) -

Fire and rescue authorities say that two children involved in a collision with a semi truck in rural Worth County avoided injury because they were correctly restrained in child safety seats.

Worth Fire Rescue and EMA was dispatched to Highway 33 North and Rocky Mount Church Road about 11:00 Thursday morning, to an accident involving a small SUV and a semi truck.

Rescuers shut down the terminated the engine of the SUV and dealt with fluids from that vehicle that spilled into the highway.

Grady EMS transported one patient to Crisp Regional Hospital in Cordele.

Two small children in the SUV were in their child safety seats and showed no visible injuries.  They were taken by family members to the hospital to be evaluated.

The Georgia State Patrol took command of the scene when they arrived.
