CORDELE, GA (WALB) -
Every summer thousands of visitors line up at Cordele's historic hot dog joint.
Cordele Recreation Parlor is one of the oldest downtown restaurants where residents can get a good ole fashioned chili dog.
The restaurant opened back in 1939, formerly home to a gentleman's club.
Store Manager Jesse York said they sell 360 cases of hot dogs every summer, which is equivalent to nearly 50,000 hot dogs.
And he explained it’s because is made fresh chili daily.
"People remember coming and eating it as kids, they remember that. I've had people come in off 75, tell me they stopped three exits back and asked someone where there's a good place eat. They told them to come down to Cordele to get a hot dog," said York.
During the watermelon festival, Cordele Recreation Parlor staff typically expect 200 to 500 folks to stop by for the big parade happening on Saturday at 8:30 a.m.
