Downtown stores see more business during Rose Show

THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) - A new broad street location bringing in brand new customers for South Life Supply Company.

"The traffic, people just keep coming through the doors. Its exciting," said South Life Owner Heather Abbott.

The owners decided to move the store from Madison Street to Broad Street and opened their doors just days before Rose Show.

"Right on the action can't wait to see what that looks like in the next few months but right now it's very positive and great," said Abbott.

The annual rose show is expected to bring 25,000 people into Downtown Thomasville throughout the weekend.

Abbott said that's means a huge boost in business." Well I think we've seen about half of them already. Normally weekends for us are busy anyways so we are ready and set on go!"

Downtown visitor center employees spend months organizing this event.

Tourism director Bonnie Hayes said it's an exciting time for the city of roses." Events like the rose show are so important to our community. This is what helps support the 609 jobs that are in the tourism industry,"

Hayes said in the past about 67 million dollars has been spent each year during events like rose show.

"We're thankful that the city provides an outlet to be exposed to folks who might not otherwise come in town," said Abbott.
