THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) -

Students at Jerger Elementary honored several teachers today as local heroes for National Superhero Day.

It was a partnership between the Everfan Heroes company out of Thomasville and the Thomasville- Thomas County chamber of commerce.

The teachers were given their very own capes.

They also got a bag with treats and coupons to local shops and restaurants.

Students said it's just a way for them to say thank you for all the hard work and extra time these teachers put in.

The owner of Everfan said they sell a lot of superhero gear online and this is a way they can give back to the community.

"These hero recognition bags go to adults so its fun to see what happens to them too. They become almost just like a kid."

Folks from Everfan also honored doctors, pastors, parents.
