Albany Y prepares for Zumba with the Blue

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Organizers are preparing for Friday’s Zumba with the Blue at the Albany Area YMCA on Gillionville Road.

The second annual event will take place at 6:30 p.m.

“It’s just bringing a healthy initiative between police and community,” APD Cpl. Marita Williams said.

Cpl. Williams and YMCA Health and Wellness Associate Sam McCormick were at the Y on Friday morning trying to recruit some last-minute participants.

This year’s Zumba with the Blue will include two gyms, healthy food, eight instructors, and a lot of fun.

“Zumba is a party. You don’t have to know what a kumbaye is, all you have to know is how to move. That’s all you have to do.” McCormick said.

Organizers expect more than 90 participants at this year’s event.

The event is free and open to the public. It will end at 8:00 p.m.
