SYLVESTER, GA (WALB) -

The City of Sylvester recently planted two trees in honor of two very devoted former employees.

The first tree was planted next to City Hall in memory of former city clerk Kathy Wise.

Wise dedicated more than 30 years to the City of Sylvester. She passed away in February.

The second tree was planted at Gervaise Lawhorne Park, in honor of former City Manager Deborah Bridges.

She served for 40 years and retired late last year.

“We just felt like those people gave so many years of their life to the City of Sylvester and it would be very fitting this year for our Arbor Day Celebration,” Department Head of Zoning Glenice Stephens said.

The city hosts an Arbor Day Celebration every year for Georgia Cities Week.
