SYLVESTER, GA (WALB) -

The City of Sylvester is hoping residents will participate in its Adopt-A-Street Program.

The city council adopted the program in order to combat the city’s litter problem.

Residents, businesses, and organizations are encouraged to adopt a street.

Groups who choose a section are responsible for cleaning the area three times a year.

Sylvester’s Code Enforcement Director Issac Adams said one family already signed on to adopt Willingham Street.

“They adopted that street in memory of their father, so he lived on that street and they’re going to keep it clean,” Adams said.

Those interested can pick up an application at the Code Enforcement Department located at 108 North Main Street.
