ALBANY, GA (WALB) - On Thursday, April 27, 2017, Georgia State Senator Freddie Powell Sims and Southwest Georgia educators learned about computer coding.
The program was held inside the Logistics Education Building at Albany Technical College.
State Senator Sims said there are a number of open jobs that relate to computer coding.
She said it's important to teach students about becoming coders.
"This is what we need to prepare our children for and to prepare them to think beyond just one career path. Now, you need more than just one in order to survive in today's economies," State Senator Sims said.
The state senator hopes that educators will take what they learned about coding and add it into their own curriculum.
