ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

The state's only forensic science program just got re-accredited.

Albany State University's Forensic Science Program will now be offered through 2022.

The program was re-accredited by the Forensic Science Education Programs Accreditation Commission.

The program offers courtroom sessions for mock trial and testimony training.

And gives their students hands-on experience.

In fact, staff said most students have jobs waiting after graduation.

"30 percent of the students right not will place, will place with the GBI. They're with the FBI. They're in good opportunity placements," said ASU Forensic Science Program Director Zachariah Oommen.

ASU's forensic science program recently received more than $600,000 in funding from the National Institute of Justice.
