ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Folks at the Albany Police Department want to thank the community for participating in a yard sale Saturday.

Members of the department held the sale at Veteran's Park in downtown Albany.

Officers said it was busy all morning.

It's one of several fundraisers to help a fellow officer in need of a kidney transplant.

Lieutenant Conley has been employed with APD for 29 years.

For the past seven, he's been on dialysis.

Captain Wendy Luster said she's been happy with the support from the community.

"In the end, we know that Lieutenant Conley will appreciate that everything everyone has come forth and done for him," said Luster. "We are very appreciative."

The department also sold raffle tickets for a $100 visa gift card.

It will announce a winner in late June.

That's when officers will hold a final fundraiser.

It will be a male Fashion Show. Organizers have not announced a time, but said it will be on June 24th.
