THOMAS CO., GA (WALB) - Fire crews from Calhoun County, Thomas County, and the city of Bainbridge participated in a training for a new foam trailer this week.
Bainbridge Fire Chief Doyle Welch applied for a grant funding the trailer after a massive chemical explosion back in 2015.
The new trailer can hold nine hundred and ninety gallons of foam.
It can put a gas fire out in matter of minutes.
This trailer is the first of it's kind in South West Georgia,
Surrounding counties to Decatur County said they are excited to now have the resource.
"Part of that planning was how will we combat the fire next time how will we be able to extinguish it," said Chief Jones, Thomas County Fire.
Thomas County will have firefighters out at the training all three days it is offered this week.
They want to be prepared in case they are ever called in for mutual aid or in the case that it's needed locally.
