Golden Rams win SIAC in inaugural season

PEACHTREE CITY, GA (WALB) - In its first year of existence, the ASU men's golf team won the SIAC championship.

Out at the Flat Creek Golf Course in Peachtree City, the Golden Rams shot the best three rounds of their season.

ASU led throughout the tournament, finishing with a team total of 888 over the par-72, 6677-yard course.

Gary Hilton won coach of the tournament, and he says they went into the 3-day event with a winning mindset.

"We as a team, we've prepared for it," said Hilton. We've expected it, but it was also understood that we are a first-year program. We put together a team in 3 months and I couldn't have asked for more from these guys."

Dominic DiGiacomo was named the Tournament MVP. He Tyler George and Tyler Hanson were all named to the SIAC Men's Golf All-Tournament Team.

Hanson was the sole Golden Ram on the Men's Golf All-conference team and was also named the Freshman of the year.
