The Tift County School System announced the promotion of Chris Wade as head basketball coach Wednesday.
Wade has served as associate head coach since 2013, so he's been on the staff for the '14 and 17 state title runs.
He plans to continue that tradition.
"Tifton's been successful for a long time and you can easily look around the gym and see that.," said Wade. "It's my job to keep it where it is. Obviously you can't get any higher than a state championship so my role will be to continue to keep the program at the level its at and keep it with the class and integrity it has always had."
Dr. Eric Holland's departure last week opened up room for Wade's promotion, and the school wasted no time.
In a statement released by the school system, Wade seems ready to continue the wining tradition in Tifton.
"My plan is to build upon the foundation that has been laid by the previous coaches and players as well as respect and hold onto long-standing traditions of the program. There will be obvious differences on the court, but the core values of discipline, class and hard work that have been a part of this program for many years will be respected and carried on by myself, players and coaching staff.” - Chris Wade
Tift County also promoted Chris Martin to fill Dr. Holland's role as Assistant Principal.
Both have began to transition into their roles this Spring.
