MUSKEGON, MI (WOOD/CNN) -  Bryanna Reasonover had just gotten off work Friday when she went to pick up her kids at Keysha Keepers, a licensed home daycare she had been using for the past few weeks. When she got there, she was greeted by her 2-year-old. She was about to head toward her 1-year-old, Korey, when a daycare worker told her, “Oh, Korey is so knocked out. I changed his diaper and he didn’t even wake up,” Reasonover recalled.

Korey was in a playpen, lying with one side of his face covered.

“When I pick him up, his face tilts over, and I’m like, ‘What’s all this on my baby’s face? What’s wrong with his face?’” she said.

She said there were bruises and bite marks on the baby’s face, fingers and stomach, and his head was swollen.

“I’m like, ‘Korey, you know, wake up,’” she said. “I’m like, ‘My baby, he’s not waking up.’”

She said that’s when everyone panicked and called 911. When paramedics arrived and performed CPR, it was too late.

“I don’t want to say she knew,” Reasonover said of the daycare worker. “I don’t know what anybody knows, because everybody says they don’t know.”

After speaking with the daycare operators, Muskegon Police said they learned that the baby was crying and that an 8-year-old had unsupervised contact with him at the time. Police said a 5-year-old is the primary witness to what happened.

“I want to know why. Who did it?” Reasonover said of her 1-year-old’s death. “Why nobody was there to stop it or prevent it from happening. I just don’t understand, and I probably never will understand.”

Reasonover said an autopsy has been scheduled to determine how Korey died. Police said the 8-year-old was later taken for a mental health evaluation.
