Bainbridge Public Safety to begin testing fire hydrants

BAINBRIDGE, GA (WALB) - Bainbridge residents may soon notice a temporary change in their water.

Bainbridge Public Safety, in conjunction with the Bainbridge Water Department, will be conducting Fire Hydrant Flushing and Testing beginning next week.

They as a result, residents could experience temporary discoloration of their water.

Crews said you shouldn't be alarmed if you are effected.

"The water could be a little discolored or have a rusty tint to it but just let it run for about 5 to 10 minutes and it should clear up," said Doyle Welch, Fire Chief.

The process of periodically "flushing" fire hydrants is an important preventative maintenance activity to insure the integrity of the water system and deliver the highest quality water to our customers.

If the water does not clear in a reasonable amount of time, please contact Public Services at 229-248-2014.
