CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

By Sunday evening there were at least 9 GoFundMe accounts set up for the victim in the Facebook homicide.

Robert Godwin, Sr. was shot and killed and the video posted on Facebook, police said.

Police said Godwin was walking along East 93rd in Cleveland when 37-year-old Steve Stephens walked up to him, asked him to say Joy Lane (Stephens ex-girlfriend), then shot him.

GoFundMe said it's not uncommon for people to set up accounts after news reports.

An Arizona man set up an account that has collected more than $25,000.

"I cannot imagine the pain his family is going through right now. I am just a kid from Arizona who unfortunately saw this video on Facebook and wanted to help. Take initiative. I'll post photos of me delivering the help. I know this won't bring their loved one back but it's the least we can do. I hope they find peace," according to the GoFundMe page.

The person who set up the page said he is working with GoFundMe to make sure the money gets to the family. GoFundMe confirmed that. The spokesperson also said they have been in contact with the organizer of the account, family members and local authorities.

"GoFundMe will work with the campaign organizer to ensure the funds are transferred directly to the family," according to an email to Cleveland 19 News.

GoFundMe sent the following statement:

As with any event, there may be multiple people who want to help. With regard to additional GoFundMes, we are directing everyone to the campaign above. Regardless, all funds raised for the Godwin’s will be transferred directly to the family. It’s important to remember that our platform is backed by the GoFundMe Guarantee, which means funds are guaranteed to go to the right place.

A massive manhunt is underway for Stephens. He's considered armed and dangerous.
